about

Words & tune: Daria Kulesh

An ode to all those driven by a blind belief in the value of their art and ambition, with no fear of failure. Let’s meet some of them… William McGonagall (the worst poet to ever torment the English verse?), Florence Foster Jenkins (the most excruciating opera singer in history?), and countless others, I salute you – without a hint of sarcasm. We are brothers and sisters, we are self-immolating zealots, holy fools possessed with a euphoric hunger. “The humiliations and defeats, given with a primitive honesty, end not in frustration, despair, or futility, but in hunger, an ecstatic, devouring hunger – for more life” (Anais Nin’s preface to Henry Miller’s Tropic of Cancer).

about

Daria Kulesh Kings Langley, UK

Described by Mike Harding as “one of the finest voices and one of the most intriguing and interesting songwriters”, Daria Kulesh has toured extensively, leaving her audiences "completely spellbound". Born in Russia but UK-based for 15 years, she fearlessly explores her roots and family history in Ingushetia (North Caucasus) with songs that "aren't just sung, but lived".
